How would you define happiness? I believe kindness is treating every person that comes into your sphere or life, if only for a moment, with the exact respect and generosity that you would like to experience.  The dictionary’s definition of kindness is “the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.”
Sometimes it is as simple as a “good morning and a smile” shared with a stranger when you enter an elevator.  It has been my experience that most people are innately kind and are willing to help others.  I have seen young people rush to help elderly people with heavy packages. We have all witnessed good samaritans stop to help change flat tires for strangers. It is truly inspiring when you see a person reach out to help another person without an ulterior motive.  Perhaps that is why it is so shocking when you see the opposite.  Let me give you an example.   How many times have you been stuck on a highway when the roadway narrows down to one-lane because of construction.  Most people are very considerate and allow others to enter that one lane passage, while others refuse to allow anyone in.  It’s as though they deliberately want to inconvenience a fellow traveler because they are annoyed by the traffic slow down.  They selfishly move up and deliberately make it difficult for another to merge over.  I have often asked myself what could have happened in that person’s life to make them so miserable?
Do you think kindness can be taught?  If yes, why is there so much bullying in school at such young ages?  Hopefully we are teaching our children the meaning of kindness in the same way we teach them to tell time.   In theory, if one nasty person can get others to follow them in reckless, unkind practices, then it should stand to reason that one extremely kind person can lead by example and create a ripple effect by displaying an attitude of caring and love.

Today on Never Say Impossible Radio we have a guest who has made the spreading of “kindness” her mission in life.  Her name is Noelani Musicaro
