“My mama always told me, that life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get. Allow me to give you a few hints.

There was a movie made about this person, who is afflicted with scoliosis, needed leg braces because he was more than likely a victim of the poliovirus, and to make matters worse he was somewhat intellectually challenged. If you guessed, forests comb, you would be right. Many of you reading this may not even know that one of America’s favorite actors, Tom Hanks, played the leading role in this old movie, which was adapted from the book by the same name.

Life is like a box of chocolates

In the movie, the leading character Forest, had various inspirational quotes that he had learned from his mother during his childhood. One of my favorites is the box of chocolates quote. It’s so true because no one knows exactly what he or she is going to get each day of their life. I like to look at it from this perspective; there is no such thing as a bad piece of chocolate.  Some chocolates are filled with an amazing surprise, such as a cherry or something even better, enhancing their sweetness. Others may be bitter or tasteless.

I have discovered that if I’m going to find that special piece of chocolate in the box, I’m just going to have to keep tasting and trying a new piece of candy every day. Maybe I am oversimplifying the act of living with my comparison to Forrest Gump’s quote. However, if you think about it this way, you may agree that you have to take the good with the bad.   Nothing lasts forever.

Today, my box of chocolates delivered a wonderful surprise. A few months ago, I was selected to join several accomplished writers to co-author an inspirational book about how one can achieve success in their life. I am proud to be in the company of Les Brown, Mark Victor Hansen, Jack Cranfield, Alan Bruce Wayne, Deborah Hardnett, Bria Simpson, Dr. Jo Anne white and other outstandingly successful people. “Mastering the Art of Success” is the title of the book, and I am delighted to say it is complete and ready for purchase.

The book is filled with stories and ideas, which revolve around topics such as; management, adversity, etiquette, negotiation skills, marketing, networking, courage, wellness, and so much more. It’s a book written by everyday people, for anyone who wishes   to achieve extraordinary success in their life.

Here is a very short excerpt;

“Adversity exists in everyone’s life to one degree or another. There is a valuable lesson that can be learned from every roadblock. As a child with a disability, I learned that I was facing a struggle and fighting back was better than giving up.  If you become defeated and ask “why me” it will become harder to overcome your problems. A bad attitude sets the stage for failure.  Negativity prevents you from seeing anything positive in your circumstances.  Become a fairytale believer and a survivor. Get through adversities with as little pain as possible, and visualize your life full of abundance and happiness.

The aim of the survivor is not life without adversity, but life transformed, full of faith in their own power to rise above adversity.  Happiness is there for the taking”. There is enough for everyone.
